Abraham Anghik Ruben Tour & Workshop

Contemporary Inuk artist, Abraham Anghik Ruben, was born in 1951 and spent his early years on the lands north of Paulatuk and east of the Mackenzie Delta, in the Canadian Western Arctic. This retrospective exhibition features approximately ninety sculptures of varied sizes as well as large-scale paintings.  Students will visit Ruben’s monumental works and be inspired by details of his life, find insights into his interest in Inuit and Viking history, and learn the rich stories that connect to the art.

 

Workshop:

Student will have an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Ruben’s visual representations of storytelling through this hands-on artmaking workshop.  Students will create their own unique printing plate that they will use to make their very own print.
